REIMAGINING

POSSIBILITY

WHO WE ARE

Structural literacy is the foundation of civic power. We equip young people to understand the systems shaping their communities and the tools to change them.

ABOUT US
THE DATA

THE PROBLEM
WE'RE SOLVING FOR

AL GA MS TN
42%

Youth voter turnout declined from over 50% in 2020 to 42% in 2024, with the steepest drops among Black and Latino youth (CIRCLE, Tufts University)

Percentage of young people who noted a lack of information
about how or who
to vote for
14%

Percentage of young people who underestimate
the power of their own vote
20%

Youth disengagement is driven by both motivation and access. When young people lack support, clear information, and reasons to believe their voice matters, participation drops.

Quality civic education is directly linked to higher rates of voting, community engagement, and long-term leadership. We exist to help close the access gap.

OUR
APPROACH

Every program at Archive the Future is informed by four core pillars. These pillars define our work and the concrete outcomes we ensure for every participant

CIVIC EDUCATION

Students learn to trace the policies and histories behind conditions in their own communities, and to identify bias, framing, and omission in how their communities are covered in the media.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

Students produce original civic media, including films, zines, podcasts, and policy briefs, grounded in their own research and analysis.

CIVIC LEADERSHIP

Students take their first civic action: attending a community meeting, filing a petition, giving a public presentation, or submitting written advocacy on an issue they have studied.

COMMUNAL CARE

Structural work requires structural support. Students facing housing instability, food insecurity, or other systemic stressors are connected directly to a network of specialized, needs-based resource partners.
