THE CIVIC
ACADEMIES

Academies are intensive, 90-minute in-person sessions offered across our four hub cities. Organized around specific systemic issues, such as housing rights or environmental injustices, these standalone sessions serve as an introduction to the Civic Narrative Framework and a stepping stone to our flagship program.

CIVIC PRAXIS
FELLOWSHIP

The Civic Praxis Fellowship is the primary avenue for students to complete the comprehensive Civic Narrative Framework. Delivered over 10 weeks through a hybrid model of online instruction and targeted in-person sessions, the program compensates every participant with a stipend for their time, research, and advocacy.

THE CIVIC
FRAMEWORK

The Civic Narrative Framework is a four-layer methodology that guides students from historical literacy to media critique, creative production, and finally, direct civic action. Each layer is sequential, ensuring that every skill mastered serves as the foundation for the next.

Historical Literacy

Through historical literacy, students develop the research and analytical skills to examine the policy decisions and structural conditions that have shaped their communities and their lives.

Media Critique

Students investigate how their communities are represented and by whom. They learn to analyze how media institutions frame public narratives, identify structural bias, and evaluate information sources with a critical lens.

Visual Storytelling

Translating their structural analysis into public-facing advocacy, students use creative production to communicate research findings and articulate clear, compelling civic arguments.

civic action

Students apply the knowledge and skills developed across all three prior layers to design and execute original community advocacy campaigns and other forms of sustained civic participation.
